Integrative Counsellor and Supervisor

Counselling in Gunnislake & Tavistock

Trudi - CounsellorAs a bacp registered integrative counsellor and supervisor I have several years’ experience counselling individuals and couples, both adults and young people, with a wide range of personal, relational and life-course difficulties. About Counselling

The basis of my approach is person-centred and existential which in essence means that:

I trust in our innate potential to grow as individuals if we are accepted and supported.

I believe that working together with clients and supervisees in an equal relational way is central to the effectiveness of the counselling process.

I am mindful that as human beings we all face the inevitabilities of existence - including uncertainty, loss, anxiety, personal responsibility and our own mortality.

Counselling and Supervision Qualifications

Professional counselling is more about care, support, connectedness and communication than qualifications, yet knowledge and theory do provide the essential foundation for safe, effective and ethical practice.  My current qualifications include:

I am passionate about my work and committed to ongoing learning. I believe that to be fully alive we need to remain open, curious and interested.

ButterflyMy background in management and business consulting enables me to support you with any career, work and occupational issues.

I abide by the code of ethics of my professional body the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy ( www.bacp.co.uk ) and write articles and book reviews for their journals.

My interest in counselling was sparked many years ago when I volunteered as a patient visitor at Broadmoor High Security Hospital.  Learning so much from vulnerable others proved to be a unique and life transforming experience.

Working with survivors of domestic abuse and mentoring young carers were also influential in my decision to train as a counsellor. Facing my own personal challenges was a vital part too.
